For class, I’m doing a review of Marlo Morgan’s book, “Mutant Message Down Under”.
It’s pretty much a complete piece of crap. The writing is lousy, she is extremely egotistical and ethnocentric, and as most of us know, a complete liar liar pants on fire.
I cannot deny, however, that her book seems to have changed the lives of many readers.
I think this has more to do with our desire to get back to spiritual basics.
Our souls are aching, so we look to latch on to anything that provides the slimmest hope of growth.
I just wish she had not only just acknowledged that this was a work of fiction, (people would still have flocked towards it, I’m sure) and had not used the Australian Aborigonals as the vehicle for her Journey of Truth.
Aboriginal people are a living people – not a metaphor for spiritual enlightenment.
